Move over, hair tinsel—there's a new way to add a little sparkle to your ‘do. And Lupita Nyong’o is the one ushering in what's bound to become a new trend for anyone looking to bedazzle their hair in an undeniably glamorous yet surprisingly subdued way.

Nyong'o attended the New York City premiere of A Quiet Place: Day One looking, as you might expect, totally stunning. She wore an off-the-shoulder Prada catsuit completely covered in lush black sequins, which clearly inspired hairstylist Vernon François when he came up with a way to do the Oscar-winning actor's hair.

Nyong'o's short, deeply parted style was given more volume along her hairline in the form of softly waved “afro bangs,” as François calls them. And there, worked into her natural texture, were delicate loops of more black sequins, creating gorgeous, glistening dimension and the best kind of matchy-matchy look.

“Added some sequins to the #afro bangs on Nyong'o's natural #pixiecut for a bit more texture.🥰,” François wrote when he shared the look on Instagram.

And just when we thought we couldn't take our eyes off of her hair, we noticed Nyong'o's nails. And considering how manicures have taken a very understated turn recently, we were genuinely surprised to see some amazing nail art. The retrofuturistic design features a gloss black base, point silver tips, and a diamond-like gem at the tapered end.

The overall look is the perfect balance of glitz and sleek subtlety—exactly the kind of inspo we need for summer soirées.
