In fact, concealer can go a long way beyond the undereyes, including spot-treating blemishes and bouts of hyperpigmentation or redness. "I use just concealer to even out the skin with a lot of clients," Los Angeles-based makeup artist Robert Sesnek told Allure. "I find that depending on the [skin] concerns, spot-treating with concealer is a great way to let the skin breathe and use much smaller amounts of product versus fuller-coverage foundation that isn’t always necessary." Below, we've rounded up the best undereye concealers for dark circles, eye bags, and more.

Best Concealer Overall: Nars Soft Matte Concealer
Why It's Worth It: Nars Soft Matte Concealer, a mattifying cream version of the brand's Radiant Creamy Concealer (another beloved formula that won a 2024 Readers' Choice Award), is a long-standing favorite amongst Allure editors, makeup artists, and beauty influencers—and for good reason. This concealer may have a demi-matte finish, but its conditioning formula won't dry or crack on your skin, thanks to nourishing ingredients like hydrating hyaluronic acid and moisturizing antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E. Both antioxidants and hyaluronic acid address dark circles, by the way, which is why this creamy concealer pot is our overall favorite of the bunch.
Tester Feedback: "The Nars Soft Matte Concealer was the very first product I tested as a beauty intern back in 2016, and I haven't looked back since," says Allure social media manager Bianca Richards. "It's the first product I use in my makeup routine because it creates such a flawless, even canvas, especially for my undereyes where I experience some discoloration due to lack of hydration, sleep, etc. It instantly makes me look awake, and though it's a matte concealer, it's the only matte concealer that doesn't dry out my skin due to its blendable formula."
Key Ingredients: Glycerin | Available Shades: 30 | Who It's For: Anyone who wants a tried-and-true, buildable-coverage formula
Best Concealer for Sensitive Skin: Tower 28 Swipe Serum Concealer
Why It's Worth It: Allure editors love the cooling, gel-like feel of Tower 28's Swipe Serum Concealer and its buildable, medium-to-full coverage formula that targets undereye discoloration with hyaluronic acid, lysine, and caffeine. But the true star of this formula is cica, a popular ingredient in Korean skin-care products for its soothing, redness-neutralizing effects. Like most of Tower 28's roster, this lightweight concealer's formulation abides by the National Eczema Association's Seal of Acceptance guidelines, including being free of fragrances and alcohol.
Tester Feedback: "This is the creamiest concealer on the planet, or at least in my vast collection," says Allure deputy digital director Kara McGrath. "I love that it feels lightweight but offers full coverage, making it perfect for covering dark undereye circles. It also doesn't dry out and crack, which I appreciate on days when I won't have time to touch up my makeup before a dinner."
Key Ingredients: Hyaluronic acid, cica, lysine | Available Shades: 20 | Who It's For: Anyone, including sensitive skin types
Best Concealer for Dark Circles: Tarte Shape Tape Radiant Concealer
Why It's Worth It: You're probably familiar with the original formulation of Tarte Shape Tape, but have you met its radiance-boosting sister? Shape Tape Radiant Concealer caught our editors' eyes enough to become an official Allure Best of Beauty Award winner and One to Watch candidate. Our editors agreed that this ultra-creamy formula is innovative for its radiant, dark circle-correcting take on the original formulation and complexion-boosting ingredients like hydrating hyaluronic acid and anti-inflammatory sea buckthorn oil.
Tester Feedback: Compared to its predecessor, "The difference [of Tape Shape Radiant] is in its subtle, reflective finish," Allure senior editor Jesa Marie Calaor said in our review. "It dries down to feel like skin—not slick or sticky the way some other luminous concealers feel—and masks redness and hyperpigmentation completely."
Key Ingredients: Glycerin, squalane, seaberry seed oil, licorice root, niacinamide | Available Shades: 37 | Who It's For: Anyone who wants a creamy, dark circle-diminishing formula with buildable coverage and a radiant, light-diffusing finish
Best Blurring Concealer: Benefit Cosmetics Bright On Boi-ing Concealer
Why It's Worth It: You might not wake up with bouncy, dewy skin, but you can fake it by swiping on Benefit Cosmetics' Bright On Boi-ing Concealer. This custardy, medium-to-full-coverage formula melts into your skin, creating a radiant, glowy finish. Ingredients-wise, this concealer is enriched with antioxidant-rich red algae extract and vitamin C to enhance your skin's natural glow.
Tester Feedback: "Aside from the fact that it looks like a little pencil with an eraser, I love Benefit's Bright On Boiing Concealer for its soft, dewy finish, and super close color match (Lychee) to my skin tone," says Allure commerce contributor Annie Blackman. "It's very easy to apply with my finger, or, I'm feeling fancy, a Beautyblender. The texture of the formula is reminiscent of a tinted moisturizer but with more coverage and in a more convenient format."
Key Ingredients: N/A | Available Shades: 12 | Who It's For: Anyone who wants a dewy, luminous finish

Best Concealer for Dry Skin: Armani Luminous Silk Concealer
Why It's Worth It: Bhatty constantly reaches for Armani's Luminous Silk Concealer because this easily blendable formula creates a beautiful, skin-like finish. This Best of Beauty Award-winning concealer blurs fine lines and texture and doesn't crease throughout the day, thanks to a blend of glycerin and vitamin E—and there's even caffeine to kick puffiness to the curb.
Editor Tip: Associate features director Dianna Mazzone reported that this concealer is one of her all-time favorite makeup products for its crease-free, non-cakey finish. "It's easy to find a cover-up that can mask the discoloration, but what's not-so-simple is finding one that does the job without creasing," she said.
Key Ingredients: Glycerin, caffeine, vitamin E | Available Shades: 22 | Who It's For: Anyone who wants award-winning, medium-to-full coverage for dark undereye circles
Best Concealer for Mature Skin: Dior Backstage Concealer
Why It's Worth It: Just one swipe of Dior's Forever Skin Correct Concealer will conceal all discoloration without seeping into fine lines. This full-coverage concealer stands out for its crease-free wear and moisturizing blend of iris, wild pansy, and yarrow extracts. It has a soft, demi-matte finish that tones down the look of greasy undereyes without diminishing your skin's natural glow.

Best Concealer for Redness: Kosas Revealer Concealer
Why It's Worth It: Kosas Revealer Concealer (available in a whopping 28 shades) is an Allure editor favorite for its creamy, crease-free formula, which melts into the skin seamlessly. Ingredient highlights include caffeine, glycerin, squalane, sunflower seed oil, and hyaluronic acid—plus collagen-boosting peptides and redness-reducing panthenol (a form of vitamin B5). The skin-like finish is so good that you might skip foundation altogether.
Editor Tip: This fragrance-free formula is especially great for sensitive skin types.
Key Ingredients: Caffeine, pink algae, hyaluronic acid, arnica, peptides | Available Shades: 38 | Who It's For: Anyone who wants a concealer that's kind to your skin

Why It's Worth It: If you're looking for a natural finish and all-day staying power, Lancôme is that girl. Why It's Worth It: Unexpected raindrops (or tears) have nothing on IT Cosmetics's Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer. This waterproof formula provides a no-budge hold and full coverage for up to 24 hours. On top of its long-wear, non-creasing hold, this formula treats your skin to a nourishing cocktail of firming peptides, brightening antioxidants, and skin-plumping hyaluronic acid.
Editor Tip: This concealer has a demi-matte finish but layer on one of our editors' favorite setting powders and you'll be shine-free all day.
Key Ingredients: Vitamin E, kaolin, niacinamide, sodium hyaluronate, hydrolyzed collagen | Available Shades: 25 | Who It's For: Anyone who needs a long-lasting, full-coverage concealer.
Best Light-Coverage Concealer: Chanel Le Correcteur de Chanel
Why It's Worth It: Anything Chanel piques our interest, but Le Correcteur de Chanel is one of our favorite picks for its featherweight, light-to-medium coverage. Its gel texture feels cool to the touch on the skin while soft pigments subtly blur the look of discoloration and fine lines. Though it provides light coverage, its staying power and crease-free formula rivals that of a full-coverage concealer.
Editor Tip: To neutralize the intensity of dark circles and discoloration, we recommend applying a color-correcting product like Chanel's Le Correcteur de Chanel Colour Corrector before concealer.
Key Ingredients: Glycerin, vitamin E | Available Shades: 16 | Who It's For: Anyone who wants sheer-to-medium coverage
Best Medium-Coverage Concealer: Kulfi Beauty Main Match Concealer

The medium-coverage concealer is made with beloved ingredients like moisture-boosting glycerin, brightening licorice root extract, and vitamin E-rich sunflower seed oil. The beautiful, radiant finish is just the icing on the cake.
Editor Tip: Allure commerce editor Sarah Han is also a fan of this concealer. "it feels incredibly lightweight and melts into my skin without leaving behind any creasing or uneven texture," she previously reported.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which concealers are best for undereyes?
Although the best undereye concealers come in liquid and cream formulas, New York City-based makeup artist Suzy Gerstein prefers the former. Per the professional, liquid formulas often "look more skin-like and tend to be more flexible with the drier, finer undereye area than a sticky, heavier formula."
However, that's not to say cream formulas won't do the job well, either. While makeup artist Kirin Bhatty, who is based in Los Angeles and New York, tends to favor liquids, she points out that she will "lean towards a cream" for heavier coverage.
How do I apply concealer on my undereyes?
In terms of application, Los Angeles-based makeup artist Molly R. Stern recommends dotting a small amount of product to the undereye area closest to the nose before blending outward with a brush or sponge to ensure the concealer spreads evenly. On the other hand, Bhatty likes applying concealer with her fingertips, which allows for "seamless blending," but whichever you prefer works perfectly.

How we test and review products
Before reviewing any makeup, we ask questions about a number of factors: What ingredients are in it? Does the brand offer a wide shade range inclusive of consumers with all skin tones and undertones? Is it safe for readers who have sensitive skin or wear contact lenses? Is it on the affordable side or more of a splurge? Is its packaging consciously designed or needlessly wasteful?
For our review of the best undereye concealers, we enlisted the help of multiple editors, writers, contributors, and professional makeup artists to review the products. This ensures our testing base spans different skin tones, genders, and dermatological conditions. We considered each product’s performance across four primary categories: ingredients, wear and longevity, packaging, and inclusivity. For more on what's involved in our reporting, check out our complete reviews process and methodology page.
Our staff and testers
A beauty product is a personal purchase. You might be searching for a face cream to address persistent dryness or a new nail product to add to your Sunday self-care routine; you may simply be browsing around for the latest launches to hit the hair market. No matter what you seek or your individual needs and concerns, Allure wants to ensure that you love anything we recommend in our stories. We believe that having a diverse team of writers and editors—in addition to the wide range of outside testers and industry experts we regularly call upon—is essential to reaching that goal.
After all, can we really say a skin-care product is the "best" for people over 50 if the only testers we’ve solicited opinions from folks who have yet to hit 30? Can we honestly deem a high-end diffuser worthy of your hard-earned cash if it’s never been tested on curls? We’re proud that our staff spans a wide range of ages, skin tones, hair textures, genders, and backgrounds, which means that we are able to fairly assess any beauty product that comes into the beauty closet.
