I'm definitely not gonna sit [chuckles].

I'm gonna have to figure it out.

I'm gonna be levitating there in that room,

but it's worth it.

[paparazzi laughing]

Perfect! Oh, that's great.

Oh, that was beautiful. That's great.

Hey, Allure, it's Tyla.

Get ready with me for the Met Gala.

[upbeat music]

Every year when the Met Gala happens,

me and my mother, we watch the TV

and we rate everyone's outfits.

Literally, like, every single year.

So just me being now at the Mets attending it,

I know my mother's probably gonna be watching

and judging the dresses,

and she'll get to judge mine this year.

So that's cool.

I'm very excited.

I'm so excited.

I've been dreaming about this day

for years and years and years and years.

So it's finally the day.

[lo-fi music]

The theme was scary.

But after we got into, like, researching

and finding out what the theme really means,

it became easier to kind of, like, see

and envision what we wanted to do.

We just knew we wanted to do something special.

Like, Yo!

We were on phone calls every other day.

Trying to figure out what.

[both laughing]

How are we gonna chow these people?

The concept is time, but not in a literal way.

We playing with hourglass sand, sands of time.

There's a lot of things

that we're trying to do for the first time.

Having Pat on makeup, body makeup, haircut,

cinched, like, we're trying to do

a lot of special things for this moment.

[Both] Run it up [laughing].

[lo-fi music]

Before big events, I usually pray all the time.

I like to just be calm and treat it like a normal day.

'Cause if I make it seem like, oh, it's a whole big deal,

then I get nervous.

The whole Met Gala, like, this is a crazy event.

I've always wanted to be invited.

So we had a few ideas with hair,

but I don't know, I feel like we kind of

landed on this hairstyle naturally.

Like, it just came to us and we knew,

Hey, we have to go short.

For this look, we have to go short.

This is the only way you eat caviar.

Oh, yes. [crew laughing]

[Thato] Yeah?

How is it?

Mmm... Mmm?

[all laughing]

Yo.

Very salty.

I don't know.

[lo-fi music continues]

She's inspired by the sand.

I always look at sand as being gold,

so we can use a little bit of that,

just kind of accent and give a nice wing, a nice lift.

She just wants a really snatched look.

We wanna be snatched.

Yes, always snatched. Mm-hmm.

We got some photos.

We had one original look, was supposed to be more natural.

And she kind of just said, You know what?

More snatched.

And that's what we're doing.

Literally, we have Pat McGrath doing the makeup.

So I was like, There's no way

we're just gonna do a simple face.

You have to play around.

And Pat's team came with this...

Yo, where's Thato's hand?

This whole sand glistening vibe.

Like, look at this.

Like, who even thinks of this?

Yeah, so I'm so excited to work with Pat.

What the heck?

I love, love, love, love her.

So yeah, they're killing the makeup as you can see.

Morning.

Good morning.

Oh, I'm so happy.

How are you today, alright? Yes, I'm excited.

[lo-fi music continues] [indistinct chatter]

When I get ready, I do listen to my own music.

I'm not over it yet.

Like, I listen to it almost every day still.

Jump, next single.

It's crazy, we shot a video, like, in South Africa

just before we came here for the Mets.

So I'm so excited for that video, guys.

My word.

[lo-fi music continues]

I'm looking forward to finding out what happens inside

'cause no one knows really unless you've been invited.

So let's see what happens inside the Met.

I found out that I have to be alone and, oh my gosh,

that already stressed me out because, hey.

Actually Olivier and the Balmain team

came up with this incredible new technique

of a way to turn real grains of sand

into like an actual fabric.

And so when I saw that, I was just completely sold.

I just thought it was like the perfect way

to do our first Met with something so innovative

and very, very Tyla as well.

Somebody walked out, yeah.

[lo-fi music continues] [indistinct chatter]

Have you ever had this many people working on you at once?

[Crew] Yes.

Yeah, but this is kind of crazy.

[crew laughing]

Hold me, don't let me hold you [laughing]!

This is crazy.

If you guys can see behind this camera,

there's gang people, people are holding lights, cameras.

[all laughing]

Lots happening.

[lo-fi music continues]

I'm so excited.

I can't wait for people to see it.

I just wanna get there and...

[Crew] Serve.

And serve [chuckles].

[Katie] Is that's your pose?

Yeah, that's my pose. [crew chuckles]

[lo-fi music continues] [indistinct chatter]

Just a few finishing touches.

I love this event.

[lo-fi music continues]

I feel amazing, guys.

I'm excited to just get out there.

Come on, let's go, guys.

Let's go.

Bye-bye.

Thank you guys for watching.

Now I'm on my way to the Met.

Bye.
